At the end of financial year 2018 the count of actively traded businesses in Australia increased by almost 80,000 (increase of 3.4% vs previous financial year) to finish at 2.3 million businesses.

AUSTRALIAN BUSINESSES BY STATE:

 
New South Wales and Victoria contribute to 61% of the total businesses in Australia with NSW at 783k and VIC at 618k. The positive is that all states saw an increase in the number of new business registrations. These registered businesses can be sole trader/registered companies/trust or partnerships.
